Misinformation and Disinformation

Misinformation: false or inaccurate
information, especially that which is
deliberately intended to deceive. For
example, sharing inaccurate photos,
quotes or dates online because you
believe them to be true.

Disinformation: false information
which is intended to mislead,
especially propaganda issued by a
government organization to a rival
power or the media.For example,
different articles intended to discredit
a political candidate may circulate at
the same time, with each version tailored
to the readership.

Misinformation is false, misleading,
or out-of-context content shared without
an intent to deceive. Disinformation is
purposefully false or misleading content
shared with an intent to deceive and cause
harm. Journalists say social-media platforms
have hurt their industry, contributing to
inaccurate and one-sided news accounts by
exerting too much control over the mix of
news that people see. People will say one
thing to get other people to turn them on
to a different path.

AI in social media holds the potential
to transform how brands market across
platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook,
Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Today, AI
can create social media posts for you. It
can draft and target social ads also, it can
automate monitoring.
